Bandung, member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) as City of Design since December 2015, offers particular viewpoints of 'design' that have become a mindset, or a tool to find inclusive, innovative solutions for urban issues; and to lessen the gap between citizens and government and policies. In UCCN Annual Meeting 2017, Bandung was chosen as one of the cities with the best practice/implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) #11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through its annual program called DesignAction.bdg (DA.bdg). The recent achievements of BCCF programs reflect this concept; namely Airborne.bdg (a rooftop mural as Bandung's new landmark that symbolises creative engagements with grassroots inhabitants underneath the rooftops), Fashion Village Lab (a pilot for circular economy for fashion industry in a multinational-labels garment-producing urban-village), and AA Streetware (a workshop on heritage area revitalisation, collaborating with AA London School of Architecture and ThinkCity Malaysia).
In December 2017, The Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy (Bekraf), partnering with Bandung Creative City Forum (BCCF), hosted the Preparatory Meeting of World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) in Bandung, themed 'Inclusively Creative', which discussed policies and regulations related to creative economy as among the main sectors that triggers economy activities, especially within urban contexts.
Considering the aforementioned occasions and BCCF experience in intervening with urban spaces and activations by using creative potentials and involving all stakeholders of a city, WUF9 would be a great platform for discussion, sharing and thoughts exchange, in a mixed format of a presentation session and an active 'design thinking' workshop, where people can take at least a reference or a method, to be simulated, implemented or experimented in their own cities and communities.
