Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships and the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda

Summary

Open to all WUF attendees and organized by the General Assembly of Partners (GAP), this interactive and participatory networking session will focus on the role of multi-stakeholder partnerships in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and associated global agreements referenced in the New Urban Agenda. The member states have long acknowledged the importance of stakeholders and multi‐stakeholder partnerships. Collectively, the global agreements on resilience, financing, sustainable development, climate change and sustainable urbanization mention stakeholders repeatedly (105 times) and partnerships (169 times) in various roles related to their formulation implementation and monitoring. GAP research found

Well-positioned to support multi-stakeholder partnerships through its extensive membership (1,200 unique organizations encompassing 58,000 networks and several hundred individual members), the GAP Executive Committee will share current and anticipated multi-stakeholder projects and help coach attendees in how to join them or form new ones.
