The side event which is going to take place in the Ninth Session of the World Urban Forum is a unique platform of share ideas, knowledge, initiatives and data on the pathway to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and implementation of New Urban Agenda. Title of the Side Event, which would be organized by Urban Development Directorate is 'Towards Implementation of the New Urban Agenda in Context of the Most Vulnerable Country, Bangladesh: Problems and Prospects'. Expected outcomes of the event are (i) Dissemination of good practice in Bangladesh for implementation of New Urban Agenda among least developed countries. (ii) Book launch on good practice (iii) Agreement and MoU signing between UDD and other stakeholders in Bangladesh including government, NGO and educational institutes' etc. (iv) speech delivery by the Honorable Minister for Ministry of Housing and Public Works on policy statement for achievement of SDGs 11 and implementation of New Urban Agenda in Bangladesh and also by the partners of the respective field of activities. The stall would be adorned with audio-visual presentations, reports, colourful maps, posters, figures, graphs, festoons, reading materials, handbills containing urban planning process and good practice in implementation of New Urban Agenda to make the event interesting and attractive to the participants of the session. The participating team would comprise of both male and female of varying age ranging from below thirty to fifty plus to ensure age and gender balance. It is expected that the event would open up an avenue to share ideas and commitments and also strengthen partnership and launching joint initiative to promote sustainable urban development in Asia and the Pacific and in Bangladesh in particular.
