Member of the Moroccan Popular Movement Party, Ms Lkhiyel was an advisor to the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) between 2000 and 2002. She then served as Member of the Parliament for the period 2002 to 2016. She has also been the head of the Municipal Council of Arbaoua since 2009 and has been the Vice-President of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) since 2010.
